an episode of hospitalization

a tragedy without warning..  unexpected at all.. i was working when suddenly had an episode of "close -  to - fatal" incident.. maybe it's my own fault for not wearing mask at work - serve me right! seriously,  thankful being warded at ward 8 - the doctors & staff nurses were nice.. i can escape for an hour or two everyday  & not scolded for missing in action! & also, i rarely wear that "green patient uniform" & nobody gave a damn about that.. Kudos to the doctors - the HO & MO  erase my perception that most doctors are "action & kerek!" (sorry to say this, my experience at outpatient @ becoming a part time operator / screening prescription leave me with that impression.. hard to get nice doctors!)..

i refuse ABG (arterial blood gases for medical illiterate - a measurement of how much oxygen and carbon dioxide is in your blood & also determines the acidity (pH) of your blood) - the doctors were okay with that! saying that they wont force me & explained why that test is a must..  although i already know the reasons (i did learn metabolic acidosis,  alkalosis in university etc), i cant bear to experience the same painful moment twice! i'm immune to frequent episode of taking blood at brachial artery in the arm but not at the wrist  ! one is enough for me! (still cant overcome my blood phobia.. however, taking blood for 4 consecutive days when i was suspected of having dengue help me a bit).. moreover, series of blood result (full blood count) before prove that i did something useless because the results were normal..

not bored at all -  colleagues visited me non stop - my bosses, pharmacists round (they come together wearing the uniform, nampak macam ward round pulak!), the penolong pegawai farmasi gang, the PRP gang, trainee gang & mixed combination gang! thanks to them, i dont have a boring episode of hospitalization!

however, i'm writing here not to exaggerate about my hospitalization.. just want to share message - never forget your personal protection equipment at work/during lab work (mask, jumpsuit, glove & many more!).. malang tak berbau - neglect it for just a second & i'm sure a trip close to death lane awaiting...  it wont be a major problem if there's an antidote to the chemicals exposed but imagine if you are exposed to something that is rare & the doctors didnt know the treatment ..Consulting Pusat Racun Negara takes time meanwhile you had a severe problem - i think, not long after that, death will great you with open arm.. i'm lucky because my profession let me to access a medicine in a blink (okay, i exaggerate!).. although it wasnt the exact treatment, at least that medicine help me to survive to A&E & kept me alive while the doctors decide the right treatment ..
