because i'm a pharmacist...
as for the introduction, l'd like to say that life go on.. today, my rambling will focus on my career... i know, out there, thousand people dream to be a doctor or engineer and never consider the idea of becoming a pharmacist.. truth to be told, many had vague idea on what a pharmacist actually do.. i'm not going to write a long, boring essay on the description on the career as a pharmacist... just want to share how grateful i am to be a pharmacist...
first of all, i want to highlight about the salary since it's the most important part for many people.. in the government, i must say that the salary is reasonable enough, not differ much from other U41, just add on critical allowance but still cant beat doctor because they got on call allowance... but that was compensate by that 'claim off sukati part', be it one hour, the whole morning or evening or even one full day! of course a simple person like me will choose freedom over money! & the salary of doctor & pharmacist will distance further when climbing the rank because doctor only take 2 year to get UD44 whereas pharmacist need 3years.. & the same thing apply to 48 & higher - different time-based to climb a higher rank..
for private sector, if doctor work on their own clinic, a pharmacist can gain profit too in term of opening a community pharmacist.. good networking with local hospitals or clinic & they will make profit by being mediator between hospital & drug company.. translated, apart from selling medicines to public, another target market was hospitals or clinic that buy medicines in bulk.. & if the doctor can work at private hospitals, pharmacist can get higher salary too by venturing in the industry sector.. in simple word, work at drug company either as quality control manager, sales representatives and many more, chance are you got handsome amount of wages every month!
&if the doctors has surgery, medical and sk on, you can classify pharmacist in government sector to 3 category - hospital/ clinic, enforcement/pharmacy division and Biro Pengawalan Farmaseutikal Kebangsaan.. if your heart lies in management, opt for pharmacy division, if your passion is exploring world/ work like a police/ want to be a part time lawyer, choose enforcement whereas BPFK suit those that love lab work .. different scope of job at different places!
as for me, the major factor that made me pursue a career as pharmacist is because i dont want to be involved in world of needle, blood and scary diseases! no point devote almost your whole life in something that you hate most.. the not so hectic schedule also give me advantage.. sometimes, i work on public holidays or weekends, but i'm free on most weekends/public holidays,it wasnt too much to cope.. & who says pharmacist are blind on diseases? we did know the symptoms of & diseases, how the drugs work to combat the illness, the right dose and so on..
