home is where the heart is

oh,well.. title a bit exaggerate... i remember few years ago, Court Mammoth always promote their product @ lower price.. but then, when it was officially open, i can count how many times i go there.. However,  i still upset because the choice for furnitures in Kelantan  are very limited... Take bedframe for example, most shops in KB offer the same design (katalog sebijik same) & quite rare to get discount/cheaper price compared to KL..   sometimes, the most expensive one doesnt means that  the quality is superior, thus i opted for design.. as long as it pleased my eyes (do note that citarasa semua orang tak sama), then i'd  say yes after taken some criteria into consideration ie solid wood/kayu getah, design etc... kayu jati extremely pricey & carvings/ukiran-ukiran nampak serabut sangat, at least that's what i can see in few shops that i surveyed earlier & if i want to  request  certain design,  satisfaction tu xde sebab xleh tengok finished product - a bit risky because i dont know how it will end up! Compared to major cities ie KL, JB, Penang - at very least, shops are everywhere & some offer the same  item tapi with much cheaper price! & i love IKEA most!  tapi redundant utk import furniture all the way from KL &  pay the transportation fee...  maybe, utk golongan berstatus tinggi, that's not a big deal tapi klu setakat  rumah bujang, redundant!.. for sofa bed, design  dekat Kelantan mostly guna steel as support & in my opinion, nampak strange sikit klu tapak sofa bukan kayu... & before i forgot,  baru je tau IKEA Mutiara Damansara & The Curve accessible via public transport in case xde driver boleh hantar (err, i'm not talking about taxi!)  wherever you are,  make sure you choose Kelana Jaya LRT as your last station.. cross the bridge, wait for the bus - free shuttle service to IPC @ specific time..  or public bus U89... muak jugak klu makan the killer meatballs  banyak2 & rasanya, its sauce yg contribute pada taste..

bonding time

i'm not a big fan of secret recipe, partly because of the small branches  in KB... however, Secret Recipe Jerteh was exceptional, its ambience & spacious area makes it a perfect place for    'bonding moment' with friend... enjoy the treats very much -noodle + tom yam, dessert/ice cream &  'tapau' cake sebab tak habis makan..

& people say, dont dwell on bitter memories & shift your focus towards sweet memories ..  so, today's  selection was tokiyaki, a finger food that i  accidentally had because my friend was bored  while waiting for mne to finish shopping!

*whatever it is, thank you very much, mate! for the trouble of  driving from KB to Pasir Tumbuh &  settle down at Wakaf Che Yeh... & thanks for being my advisor when it comes to choose the materials & bunch of 'i dont know what the heck it is'!   surely i'll remember you forever, not because of that 12 year warranty but because it may last till i'm old enough!

living on the edge : Mundok, Thailand

Mundok is situated on the edge of Malaysia-Thailand border. Being a small area, Mundok rose to fame just recently after the major highlight by the media - dangerous to cross the border through a river without safety jacket .. Nonetheless, that doesnt deter Malaysian from going to Mundok to fulfill their shopping lust.. Its main attraction is super cheap items, way cheaper than Rantau Panjang or Pengkalan Kubur aside from providing varieties of choices at almost a flat rate (pegi mane-mane kedai pun harga lebih kurang tapi boleh je tawar klu beli banyak) - be it 'tudung bawal, 3 layer & adik beradik layer layer', tudung ready made & so on, cooking utensils, 'toto', blanket, 'kain sembahyang', blouse/skirt, cages & many more..
for a simple minded person like me, pergi sekali mesti nak pergi lagi.. Tak nampak dah tempat lain yg boleh sambar tudung , 'toto', blanket dll dgn harga yg tak sebabkan status 'i'm broke!'... Compared to Rantau Panjang, Mundok offer more choice of 'tudung' at a different environment... Tak rasa macam pergi ke negara Siam pun sebab Malaysian currencies accepted, peniaga-peniaga pun bercakap bahasa Melayu & sesetengahnya bertudung... Means, xyah pening-pening tukar RM kepada Thai Baht.. Naik perahu yg berpayung colourful just RM1 for one way & sungai tu xla besar sangat pun.. & ade baju bertulis I love Kelantan, ade patung Strawberry macam kat Cameron Highland/patung penyu macam kat Terengganu & macam-macam teddy bear lagi, so lebih kurang stuffs kat Malaysia je... since it was closed on Friday & Monday, plan your travel accordingly.. Tapi yg paling unik adalah air yang dijual dalam pasu ranging from RM2.50 - RM 3.50!
To go there, some people say senang pegi ikut jalan Pasir Mas lama, tapi to avoid drama sesat-sesat xleh balik ke pangkal jalan, senang pegi ikut Rantau Panjang... Dari KB, pilih simpang di mana Lavino&New Horizon Restaurant tu, straight, sampai roundabout , straight menghala ke Rantau Panjang, straight lagi sampai jumpa simpang Masjid Lubuk Jong, masuk ikut jalan masjid tu.. landmark dah dekat dgn masjid tu adalah Suraya Inn & signboard ke tanah Merah 500m.. straight je ikut jalan masjid lubuk jong tu, passed pondok polis repek & countless mosque, sampai jumpa T junction, pilih jalan ke Rantau Panjang... klu jumpa SK Kedai Tanjung, voila, you are on the right track! Pegi je straight lagi sampai jumpa tempat orang parking kereta tepi jalan, that's Mundok... Or maybe, klu dah terlepas ke bandar Pasir Mas Baru, jalan sampai jumpa Masjid Cina & simpang kompleks Kastam, masuk ikut simpang tu, sampai hujung jalan ade Nur Inn Hotel&Habib Enterprise, masuk je jalan ade bangunan MAQIS.. Straigh lagj sampai jumpa tempat parking kereta tu@Mundok... Mundok isnt for brand conscious or status conscious folk, though... The same goes to guys, unless you love cages (pelihara burung dalam sangkar dgn design yg lawa-lawa & unik) or mybe, married guys yg cari 'toto'/gifts for beloved wife/mum.. For ladies, yg baru masuk rumah baru & nak cut budget cari keperluan rumah, it's 100% recommended ... Harga jatuh menjunam compare dgn rantau panjang tapi janganla cari Vantage/Corelle dinner set kat situ, i havent found any... Kat rantau panjang pun, kedai duty free zone offer dinner set yg agak out of date, bukan latest collection...

masak-masak : cheese cake

today 's pick was fluffy version of cheesecake. The ingredients are simple but the process was quite leceh .. I must say that i love this fluffy version most compared to the usual cheesecake.

A
250g cream cheese
50 g butter(i use Buttercup)
100ml fresh milk

B
6 eggs(separate egg yolk + white)
120g fine sugar(blender je gula biasa)

C
20g custard (tepung kastard biasa)
70g tepung naik sendiri - i use Blue Key

1) melt the ingredients A using double boil technique (campur je mentega+cream cheese+susu segar, biarkan cair dgn kaedah double boil)
2)while waiting, beat the mixture of putih telur + gula halus until you get hard peak.. Hard peak tu bila mixture dah x jatuh..klu guna pemukul manual, lenguh tangan jugak ... Better use mixer..
3)mix tepung kastard + tepung naik sendiri + kuning telur...
4)satukan ketiga-tiga mixture A+B+C secara kaup balik ... Bake guna double boil jugak , 180` selama 1jam ...
Actually boleh tambah pes strawberi dalam mixture tadi + guna topping non dairy whipping cream + strawberry tapi a fluffy, plain cheesecake is enough for us ...
